Spicy food

I know that spicy food is not common in the western world, but, believe me, not a lot of people in the east like spicy food either. In my family, for example, it is only my mother, my brother and I who like spicy food. My father and my sisters can never stand eating food with a lot of chili peppers. They know it is not good for their stomach, but I never thought way. The only thing I can say is that I never felt like I ate anything if it were not spicy, although the food is terrific; however, having been away from my mom’s spicy cooking, my tongue has to get used to not eating spicy food. Now, spicy or non-spicy food is fine.

Actually, spicy food helps me a lot, for example my sinus. I don’t know if I have sinus infection, but I feel an emptiness in my nose after I eat spicy food, which is a great thing. My nose is usually stuffed and I can hardly breath when I sleep, and when I wake up, my nose hurts so bad. The temporary cure for that is a strong peppermint or spicy food. You know, we eat rice three times a day in my home country. For breakfast, especially, we usually eat fried rice and it can be really spicy too. I always enjoyed my morning fried rice, because my mom always knows my taste, spicy fried rice with eggs. It always gave me energy for the day.

Other than my sinus, spicy food often helps me when I have a small fever. But, it’s not just by eating spicy food, but also by adding more layers to what you ear. In several minutes, I get sweat. Soon enough, the fever is gone.

I had a small fever today, because I went to the city by bike while my stomach was empty. It was cold and snowed a little, but I wanted to know when my programming test will be. My tooth was still aching, so I didn’t have breakfast when I left the dorm. I knew I would get sick, and, as soon as I arrived in my room, I felt unwell. My toothache was somewhat better, but I was afraid my fever would get worse. Later this evening, my toothache became bad again and it started to control my left brain. It was like a migraine and the fever seemed to get worse. I took two pain killers just to ease the pain and soon enough, it was gone, but my fever wasn’t.

Sometime later, I had dinner and put some chili powder on my dinner. By “some,” I don’t mean like when you put salt in your soup. It was more than that. I wanted to feel the heat in my body while wearing three layers of clothes. Not long after that, I began to feel the heat and my body started to sweat. Then, my fever was gone. Of course, it happened by the will of God, but there should always be a “mediator.” An aspirin can be a “mediator” as well, but to me, it’s always spicy food. So, you can imagine why I can’t “live” without spicy food.

Sweet Surrender

"What a life it would be, if you would come to mine for tea. I'll pick you up at half past three and we'll have lasagna. I'll treat you like a Queen; I'll give you strawberries and cream. And then your friends will all go green for my lasagna."
